Kiruna Microwave Radiometer (KIMRA)

Since 2002 the ground-based Kiruna Microwave Radiometer KIMRA is in operation at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) at Kiruna (67.84°N, 20.41°E, 425 m asl), Sweden. KIMRA is a cooperation of IMK and IRF and covers the frequency range 195-224 GHz including signatures of ozone, N2O, HNO3, and ClO. Data analysis of the measured spectra is performed at IMK in Karlsruhe using the same methods as for the MIRA 2 measurements.

Results:

Time series ozone profiles (upper panel), ozone partial columns above 10 km (middle panel), and the tropospheric transmission over Kiruna between November 28th, 2002, and April 16th, 2008, as measured by KIMRA. The seasonal variation is clearly discernible.
