Kiruna Microwave Radiometer (KIMRA)
Since 2002 the ground-based Kiruna Microwave Radiometer KIMRA is in operation at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) at Kiruna (67.84°N, 20.41°E, 425 m asl), Sweden. KIMRA is a cooperation of IMK and IRF and covers the frequency range 195-224 GHz including signatures of ozone, N2O, HNO3, and ClO. Data analysis of the measured spectra is performed at IMK in Karlsruhe using the same methods as for the MIRA 2 measurements.
Results are visualized in the figure beside:
Time series ozone profiles (upper panel), ozone partial columns above 10 km (middle panel), and the tropospheric transmission (lower panel) over Kiruna between November 28, 2002, and April 16, 2008, as measured by KIMRA. The seasonal variation is clearly discernible.
